Chapter 25 was all about speaking on special occasions. It is important to recognize the type of occasion before planning the speech because the occasion determines the purpose and mood of the speech. Purposes include to entertain, to celebrate, to commemorate, to inspire, to set a social agenda, etc. Special occasion speeches can include speeches of introduction, speeches of acceptance, speeches of presentation, roasts and toasts, eulogies or other tributes, after-dinner speeches, and/or speeches of inspiration. Regardless of the type of speech, it is still important to establish ethos, pathos, and logos. Out of all the speeches mentioned, I think the speeches of presentation are the most important and applicable to me. I would use this when conveying the meaning, purpose, and explanation of a speech. This could definitely be used for the next speech, speech three, on what someone means to me.
